Job Description
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop innovative, safe, and reliable mechanical equipment used in demanding industrial and automotive applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design experience within a manufacturing or capital equipment environment and enjoy taking projects from initial concept through detailed design, testing, and production release. This position requires a hands-on engineer who can solve complex technical problems, perform engineering calculations and stress analysis, and collaborate closely with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop new mechanical products and improve existing equipment and components.
Lead engineering projects from concept through production release.
Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and Bills of Material (BOMs).Perform engineering calculations, structural analysis, and stress analysis/FEA to validate designs.
Develop practical and cost-effective mechanical solutions based on performance and customer requirements.
Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, sales, service, and other engineering teams throughout the product development process.
Support prototype development, product testing, certification, and regulatory compliance activities.
Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues and implement appropriate engineering solutions.
Manage engineering documentation and product data through PLM systems.
Support design changes, product improvements, and production releases.
Evaluate materials, components, and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and reliability.
Develop custom engineering solutions for unique customer or application requirements.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience.
At least 3 years of design experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving capital equipment or heavy mechanical equipment.
Strong experience with 3D CAD software; Autodesk Inventor preferred.
Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards.
Ability to perform engineering calculations and stress analysis.
Experience taking products from concept and design through testing and production release.
Experience creating detailed engineering drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred QualificationsExperience designing capital equipment, lifting equipment, machinery, or industrial equipment.
Experience with hydraulic systems.
Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes.
Knowledge of electrical systems or basic electrical engineering concepts.
Experience with product certification, safety testing, or regulatory requirements.
Experience working directly with manufacturing teams to resolve production and design issues.
