Based on experience CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client has a W2 contract opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer III at its Sullivan Park facility in Corning, NY. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role responsible for the detailed mechanical design, build, installation, startup, and debugging of handling and process equipment used in a manufacturing environment. This position is not limited to design work. Candidates must be comfortable working directly with the equipment they design and providing onsite support throughout installation, startup, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities Create detailed mechanical designs for handling and process equipment using SolidWorks. Apply mechanical engineering principles involving machine design, mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and structural analysis. Work closely with internal project teams to understand equipment and design requirements. Independently determine and develop effective engineering solutions. Support all phases of equipment design, build, installation, startup, and debug. Provide hands-on mechanical support during equipment installation and troubleshooting. Verify equipment builds and layouts against engineering drawings. Coordinate installation plans with safety teams and plant stakeholders. Manage and coordinate mechanical and electrical trades during equipment installation and debug. Work with Corning engineers, vendors, and contractors to resolve equipment build or installation discrepancies. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, safety, and other cross-functional teams. Apply machine-guarding requirements and applicable OSHA safety practices. Travel to supplier, vendor, or plant locations for equipment checkout and project support as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology. At least 7 years of mechanical equipment design experience. Proficiency with SolidWorks. Competency in structural finite element analysis (FEA). Hands-on experience designing, building, installing, starting up, and debugging robust mechanical equipment for manufacturing environments. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Experience coordinating or managing mechanical and electrical trades during equipment installation. Knowledge of machine guarding, OSHA requirements, and industrial safety practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams. Ability to travel domestically up to 25%. Must be eligible to work in the United States for at least 18 months. Additional Information This position requires onsite work at Sullivan Park in Corning, NY. Non-local candidates may be considered if they are willing to relocate at their own expense. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday for 40 hours per week. Overtime, longer workdays, weekends, or holidays may occasionally be required to support equipment installation and project schedules.
