Job Description

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Healthcare - $130K to $190K Summary Looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of healthcare focused mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, out of a brand new Manhattan office (Long Island option also available). You'll work across multi discipline teams to develop code compliant, high performing solutions for hospitals and other complex healthcare facilities. Key responsibilities Lead the design of healthcare mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection) from concept through construction Serve as technical lead for project execution, coordination, and delivery across internal and client teams Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes, improve constructability, and support integrated design outcomes Support client communication and technical decision making throughout project development Guide quality control efforts and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards Provide construction administration support, including RFI and submittal responses and field observations Mentor and develop junior engineering staff through technical guidance and project leadership Qualifications 14+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a strong healthcare design background Deep technical grasp of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as applied to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design Proven ability to lead projects independently and own technical decisions from concept through construction Strong training, mentoring, and leadership skills with junior staff Track record of client relationship development and ability to help sell work Comfortable performing final quality control review within area of expertise Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license required Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Based out of or commutable to Manhattan (Long Island option also available) Able to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays Strong written and verbal communication skills Not eligible for visa sponsorship Compensation and benefits $130K to $190K base, depending on experience (NY state range, may vary by exact location) Annual bonus potential Employee ownership / stock ownership options Health, dental, vision, and life insurance starting day one Generous PTO, paid holidays, and a flexible schedule Tuition reimbursement assistance Retirement savings plan Why join us This is a 100% employee-owned engineering firm that pairs the resources of a national design leader with the feel of a close-knit local office.
