Job Summary:
The Engineering Lab Technician is responsible for developing and building test equipment, supporting prototype unit builds, executing unit testing protocols and procedures, and assisting with troubleshooting equipment and products.
Essential Functions & Tasks:
Provide general support for the design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams in the form of problem solving and continuous improvement. Build and test prototype devices for engineering using a variety of lab and test equipment, including data acquisition. Independently perform tests or experiments; observe and record results. Build production test equipment to support new product releases. Troubleshoot design issues as they arise for both prototype and released product. Verification of customer failure modes using root cause failure analysis and teardown for both prototype and released product. Maintain a clean and safe work environment including tools and assembly areas.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 3 years of recent and relevant experience. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills. Strong experience with the use of electrical and mechanical lab equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, gauges, metrology tools, and various other test equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, execution, and follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in Engineering. Experience reading and creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings. Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. Experience with ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment. Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement training or experience.
