Position Introduction:
The Advanced Radar Research Center (ARRC) is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to join our growing engineering team. ARRC Mechanical Engineers contribute throughout the full product development lifecycle from concept development and detailed design through prototyping, testing, and production release. These positions play a critical role in the design, modification, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems, components, and equipment supporting advanced radar technologies. Engineers at the ARRC collaborate closely with faculty, researchers, and students in a highly interdisciplinary environment focused on advancing radar technologies for scientific discovery, practical applications, and national security. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in SolidWorks CAD modeling and comfortable working with both mechanical and electromechanical systems. We are seeking engineers with experience in reverse engineering, repair development, engineering change management, and the design of machined components. Team members should be able to apply advanced engineering principles including precision design, geometric tolerancing, and finite element analysis (FEA). Experience utilizing tools such as ANSYS and SolidWorks to develop innovative engineering solutions for complex technical challenges is highly valued. Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 36 months of related professional experience. This position will be expected to : Designs, develops, and tests mechanical components, equipment, and machinery including machined components, weldments, sheet metal, and other fabricated components. Identifies operating and installation problems and recommends solutions. Develop specifications for the selection, application, and installation of mechanical equipment. Develops mechanical structural system requirements and assists in the development of project requirements and specifications, including costing, lead times and alternative solutions. Provides periodic progress reports for current projects. Assists in the preparation of documentation for new budget requirements and overall project cost estimates. Produce accurate engineering models, drawings, and specifications that meet design standards and manufacturability requirements. Create and maintain detailed assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Source and evaluate components to support production needs. Support creation of technical documentation, instructions, and visual assets for new product launches. Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree. 36 months in mechanical engineering work/military experience.
Equivalency/Substitution :
Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months of related experience.
Required Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License. Registration as Professional Engineer or ability to obtain license within six months of employment.
Department Preferences:
