Mechanical Engineer QPO Energy, Inc Tualatin, OR Job Details Full-time $95,000 a year 5 hours ago Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation Mechanical Engineering Assembly fixtures Analysis skills Design of mechanical systems Assembly line experience Sensors Mechanical troubleshooting Custom fixtures Full Job Description Job Summary Responsible for mechanical design support, equipment integration, and technical ownership of production machinery, with a focus on mechanical structure, reliability, and manufacturability to ensure stable and efficient long-term operation.
Key Responsibilities Mechanical Design & Equipment Integration:
Support equipment mechanical design review and specification definition. Work with vendors on mechanical design, structure, and component selection. Evaluate machine design for manufacturability, assembly, and maintainability (DFMA). Ensure proper integration of mechanical systems within production lines.
Commissioning & Mechanical Validation:
Lead equipment installation, mechanical setup, and alignment. Support FAT/SAT with focus on mechanical performance and stability. Define and verify mechanical performance criteria (tolerance, repeatability, durability).
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
Diagnose mechanical failures (alignment, wear, vibration, tolerance stack-up). Perform root cause analysis on equipment issues. Implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
Equipment Performance & Reliability:
Improve machine robustness and reduce mechanical failure rates. Optimize cycle time through mechanical improvements. Support preventive maintenance strategy from a mechanical perspective. Automation Support (Mechanical Interface): Work with electrical/controls teams to ensure proper mechanical integration. Support fixture, tooling, and mechanical interface design for automation systems. Ensure mechanical compatibility with sensors, actuators, and motion systems.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive mechanical design improvements and cost reduction initiatives. Improve ease of maintenance and serviceability. Support equipment upgrades and modifications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or equipment engineering Strong knowledge of: Mechanical design principles; Tolerance analysis; Materials and fabrication methods Experience with: Automated equipment / assembly lines; Fixtures, jigs, and tooling design Ability to read and interpret: Mechanical drawings; Assembly drawings Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) preferred Strong PLC / automation knowledge preferred
