ISO 9001/AS 9100/ISO 13485
certified contract manufacturer of high precision machined parts and electro-mechanical assemblies in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania (18936). We provide manufacturing services from concept, through prototype and production, to just-in-time delivery. PMI has been delivering products to an array of industries including semi-conductor equipment, medical devices and surgical instruments, electronics, aerospace and defense, etc. for over 40 years . We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong Electromechanical Assembly Operations Leader / Engineer to lead the end-to-end assembly operations of complex electromechanical products. This role combines technical engineering expertise with operational leadership to drive safety, quality, throughput, and continuous improvement in a low mix small volume production environment. The ideal candidate will excel at both solving complex assembly challenges and developing high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities Lead daily operations of the electromechanical assembly area, including assembly line, sub-assembly processes and test stations to meet production schedules, quality targets, and cost goals. Own process development, optimization, and documentation for electromechanical assemblies. Design and implement assembly fixtures, jigs, and tooling; collaborate with design engineering on DFM/DFA improvements for new and existing products. Troubleshoot electromechanical issues using root-cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and implement permanent corrective actions. Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED) to reduce cycle time, improve first-pass yield, and eliminate waste. Manage and develop a team of assemblers, technicians, and leads; provide technical training, performance coaching, and succession planning. Monitor and report key performance metrics (OEE, yield, scrap, on-time delivery, labor efficiency); develop and execute recovery plans when targets are missed. Ensure full compliance with safety standards (OSHA, internal EHS), quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100), and industry-specific requirements (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620). Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by leading pilot builds, process validation to operations. Partner with supply chain, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve material, equipment, and supplier-related issues.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field. 5 years of progressive experience in electromechanical assembly operations within a manufacturing environment. 2 years of direct leadership or team-lead experience (supervising technicians/assemblers). Strong technical expertise in electromechanical systems, schematic reading, wiring, soldering, mechanical assembly, and functional testing. Proven track record implementing Lean/Six Sigma tools and achieving measurable improvements in quality and productivity.
