Design Engineer Job Description Join a dynamic and innovative engineering team committed to creating high-quality products. We are seeking a Sr. Design Engineer with expertise in Creo design and sheet metal, who will play a critical role in developing product assemblies. You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team to design, test, validate, and bring products to life. This position offers flexibility in location, with options to work remotely or from our sites in Vernon Hills or Galesburg. Responsibilities Design and develop products using Creo software with a focus on sheet metal and castings. Collaborate with engineering and testing teams on-site in Galesburg once or twice a week. Design, test, validate, and qualify product assemblies. Create high-level assembly drawings and parts drawings for production approval. Work on product development, focusing on manufacturability and assembly drawings. Support the manufacturing process by visiting the Galesburg site two days per week. Design heat exchangers and support the product assembly process for gas products such as heat pumps and furnaces. Prototype fitting at the factory and ensure design approval from the chief engineer. Release designs to suppliers and verify production readiness through fit tests. Essential Skills 5-7 years of experience with Creo design. Expertise in sheet metal design. Experience with castings. Strong skills in designing and developing product assemblies. Proficiency in creating assembly and parts drawings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with heat exchanger and heat transfer design is highly desirable. Familiarity with thermodynamics related to gas products such as propane. Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes. Any thermal experience would be beneficial. Work Environment The work environment is flexible, with opportunities to work remotely or from our Vernon Hills or Galesburg locations. The role involves collaboration with the engineering and testing teams, requiring occasional travel to the Galesburg site. The team is composed of around 30 individuals in engineering, sales, and office roles. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
