Mechanical Engineer Job Description A manufacturing division is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong CAD expertise to support a high-volume SKU redesign and facility transition project. You will focus on updating and modifying CAD models and engineering drawings to align with a new manufacturing process and prepare products for validation at a new production facility. This is a fast-paced, project-based role that requires advanced SolidWorks skills, particularly in routing and sheet metal design, and a disciplined approach to design release and documentation. Responsibilities Update and modify existing CAD models and engineering drawings across a large number of SKUs. Incorporate design changes required for a new manufacturing e-coating process, including adding and adjusting weep holes, gas holes, and mounting holes. Ensure design intent is clearly communicated through CAD models, drawings, and associated documentation. Create and update assemblies and component-level models to reflect design and process changes. Develop and maintain detailed drawings and documentation to support manufacturing and validation activities. Create, update, and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy and proper revision control. Support validation and testing efforts for new SKUs at a new production facility, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed. Implement design changes based on validation and testing feedback during production ramp-up. Release components, drawings, BOMs, and documentation through PLM/PDM systems such as Enovia or Vault. Follow established engineering change processes and maintain strong release discipline for all design modifications. Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth transition of products to the new manufacturing process. Essential Skills Bachelors or Associates degree in a technical field such as mechanical engineering or a related discipline. 5+ years of experience working with SolidWorks, including solid bodies, complex assemblies, large design sets, and detailed drawings. 5+ years of experience executing rapid design revisions and turnaround of existing SolidWorks CAD models and drawing releases. 5+ years of experience with BOM management and revision control in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong experience with SolidWorks tube or pipe routing design. Strong experience with SolidWorks sheet metal design. Strong experience with engineering change processes and maintaining strict release discipline. Working knowledge of ERP systems for release to manufacturing (XA preferred). Working knowledge of PDM systems, with experience using Vault or Dassault tools preferred. Mechanical engineering and mechanical design experience, particularly in sheet metal and machine design. Additional Skills & Qualifications TubeWorks (ITEC) or comparable tube and weldment design experience. Experience with metal fabrication, welded assemblies, and laser cutting processes. Experience with PLM Enovia and 3D experience tools from Dassault. Prior involvement in high-volume SKU redesign or large design set management. Experience supporting validation and testing activities in a production environment. Familiarity with transitioning products to new manufacturing processes, including e-coating or similar treatments. Work Environment This role operates in a fast-paced, project-based engineering environment focused on high-volume SKU redesign and facility transition. You will work extensively with SolidWorks for solid modeling, complex assemblies, routing, and sheet metal design, as well as PLM/PDM tools such as Enovia and Vault and ERP systems used for release to manufacturing (XA preferred). The position offers flexibility, with the option to work fully remote or in a hybrid arrangement that includes three days per week on-site at a designated facility in Seguin, TX or Shiner, TX. Collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and validation teams is frequent, and work centers around preparing designs and documentation for a new manufacturing process and production facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seguin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
