Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will design and build prototypes for proof-of-concept testing, analyze test results, and provide engineering solutions. You will be involved in critical component development and implementation, as well as fixture and sub-assembly design for production machinery. Your creativity and vision will help us overcome production roadblocks by identifying and implementing unique solutions. Responsibilities Design and build prototypes for proof-of-concept testing. Analyze test results and provide summaries with analysis and recommendations. Apply engineering principles to develop design solutions. Collaborate on engineering, design, development, and implementation of critical components. Design and build fixtures and sub-assemblies for production machinery. Identify and solve production problems and difficulties. Bring creativity and a different point of view to provide unique solutions. Participate in all project stages from need identification to implementation and verification. Work with mechanics and machine operators to improve machinery and processes. Perform controlled tests to optimize machine settings with operators. Assist in training machine operators. Collaborate with vendors to improve and develop machinery. Perform cost-benefit and ROI analysis to support projects. Monitor performance and reliability of production machinery. Maintain project schedules and timelines independently. Collaborate with the engineering team on projects. Maintain documentation for future engineers and technicians. Essential Skills Minimum 7 years' experience in product or machine design or a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in mechanical design and engineering principles. Experience with Creo 3D CAD software. Experience with PLC control systems, electronics, and closed-loop systems. Experience using DAQ systems with basic sensors like pressure transducers and thermocouples. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems. Strong skills in commercial 3D CAD software for basic designs. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Basic data analysis skills for machine performance assessment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience working with outside vendors on medium and large projects. Experience collaborating with technician-level team members. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with common prototyping methodologies and manufacturing processes. Ability to handle multiple projects in parallel and balance priorities. Understanding of quality control and data visualization. Ability to take risks and challenge the status quo. Work Environment This role offers a hands-on, dynamic environment within a small team where your impact is significant. You will work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with flexibility for up to 5 days depending on needs. Our setup is fast-paced and evolving, focused on creating a product not available elsewhere using custom-designed lines. The work environment encourages high innovation and creativity, allowing you to own projects from start to finish. Weekly evaluations and check-ins provide guidance and support. Expect to adapt quickly to unique challenges and contribute directly to company growth and scalability. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wilson, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
