Job Description

Mechanical Department Leader Washington, DC | Hybrid | Minimum 2 Days In-Office $120,00-$165k + Excellent benefits We are partnered with an MEP engineering and technology firm that is focused on bringing their client's visions to life and continuing their growth as a leading firm. They are looking for an accomplished Mechanical Engineer who wants to influence a collaborative mechanical engineering team while continuously improving the technical quality and efficiency of the department. You'll be a leader across their unique projects across commercial, higher education, K-12 schools, multi-family residential, and healthcare sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an MEP, consulting engineering, or design-build environment who wants significant influence over a mechanical department and a chance to be a part of a strong working culture. What You'll Do Lead and develop the mechanical engineering department. Manage and mentor Mechanical Team Leaders and Senior Team Leaders. Provide technical leadership across mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Serve as the final authority for technical QA/QC. Oversee project staffing, workloads, schedules, and deliverables. Develop and improve engineering standards, processes, and technical resources. Support complex projects as the mechanical subject matter expert. Partner with firm leadership on hiring, training, and department growth. What We're Looking For 12+ years of AEC experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Strong mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design experience. Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams. Strong project management and QA/QC experience. Advanced Revit proficiency. Excellent leadership and communication skills. What's on Offer Hybrid schedule with a minimum of two days per week in-office.
