Job Summary We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong healthcare design experience to support complex hospital-based projects in the Charleston market. This role requires hands-on technical expertise in designing mechanical systems for inpatient healthcare environments, along with the ability to engage directly with clients and support field-based project work. Responsibilities Plan and design mechanical systems (HVAC and hydronic systems) for healthcare facilities, with a focus on inpatient hospital environments Design for critical healthcare spaces including operating rooms, compounding pharmacies, patient care areas, MRI rooms, and treatment spaces Develop and coordinate construction documents using REVIT Perform field work, site evaluations, and construction administration activities in the Charleston area Collaborate directly with clients and project stakeholders, serving as a confident and capable client-facing representative Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development Qualifications and Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Approximately 12+ years of relevant experience Demonstrated experience designing mechanical systems for inpatient hospitals (experience must go beyond medical office buildings or outpatient facilities) Strong knowledge of HVAC and hydronic system design for healthcare applications Ability to be located in or relocate to Charleston, SC to support in-person fieldwork and client meetings Proven ability to work directly with clients in a professional, independent manner Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability and willingness to obtain Experience working on complex, large-scale healthcare projects Strong communication and leadership skills Travel Travel up to 20% may be required to support site visits, client meetings, and project coordination activities. Compensation & Benefits The expected base salary range for this role is $100,000-150,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
