40.0 hours per week Responsibilities Coordinate and review inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions. Provide planning and schedule input for design activities. Create CAD models optimized for anticipated future work and engineering drawings. Create engineering drawings, applying ASME 14.1 and Y14.5 standards. Perform and review scoping analysis and calculations for design options. Interface with the team's engineering analysis and testing activities. Present and review equipment and components design results for design reviews. Assess technical merit of solutions provided by team members and subcontractors, including leading design reviews. Interface with subcontractors, providing direction and assimilating their work. Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities. Requirements B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred, relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience respectively. A minimum of 8 years of CAD proficiency is required, SolidWorks preferred. Minimum of 10 years of equipment / component design experience. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing perASME Y14.5M.
Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA). Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinker. Ability to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems. Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week. Nuclear equipment design experience preferred but not required. Working experience with design codes such as the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, or Section VIII is preferred but not required. Experience or familiarity with the rules of ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section III Division 5 is a plus. Experience in a testing / research and development environment with multiple types of testing (R D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification). Previous experience in the nuclear industry. Experience with design for Flow Induced Vibration (FIV) or working under a Comprehensive Vibration Assessment Program (CVAP). Experience writing design specifications, testing requirements, and qualification plans. Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.
