An established MEP consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with six or more years of experience to join its Philadelphia office. This opportunity combines hands-on engineering, project ownership, and direct collaboration with clients, architects, and experienced firm leadership. Our projects span commercial and institutional buildings, including higher education, healthcare, and cultural facilities. We partner with leading architects, developers, and public and private owners to deliver thoughtful engineering solutions that balance building performance, sustainability, budget, and schedule. Technical ownership:
Develop mechanical system solutions and guide assigned projects or portions of larger engagements.
Access to experienced leadership:
Work alongside Principals who remain actively involved in project delivery.
Multidisciplinary collaboration:
Coordinate with specialists across engineering disciplines and architectural teams.
Client involvement:
Help translate client goals into practical designs and contribute to project and business development discussions. What You Will Do Design HVAC and mechanical systems, including heating, cooling, heat rejection, ventilation, air and water distribution, and building automation and controls. Perform engineering calculations and heating and cooling load analyses; contribute to energy modeling and building performance evaluations. Evaluate and select equipment that meets project requirements and supports efficient system operation. Incorporate sustainable design strategies into mechanical systems. Prepare coordinated construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports. Collaborate with architects and engineers across disciplines to resolve design challenges and integrate building systems. Participate in client and project meetings, clarify requirements, and communicate design recommendations. Manage smaller projects or defined portions of larger projects, monitoring technical quality, coordination, and deadlines. Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, maintain client relationships, and support effective teamwork. Assist with proposals and efforts to secure new work. What You Bring A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year institution. At least six years of professional experience designing HVAC systems for commercial or institutional buildings. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. A solid understanding of applicable national building codes and mechanical design fundamentals. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and develop practical solutions. Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences. Initiative, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to project delivery. The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and meet demanding deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. EIT certification or PE licensure is highly desirable. Experience with energy modeling is also valued.
