Job Description

Job Summary Röchling Automotive is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support our automotive plastic injection molding operations. This position is responsible for the development, procurement, installation, validation, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and automation systems supporting new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive manufacturing, injection molding processes, and automated production equipment. Responsibilities Lead equipment acquisition projects for automotive plastic injection molding and secondary assembly operations. Develop equipment specifications and technical requirements for supplier quotations and procurement activities. Support RFQ activities by evaluating manufacturing concepts, equipment costs, and technical feasibility. Manage equipment suppliers during design, build, FAT, installation, commissioning, and production launch phases. Ensure equipment meets cycle time, quality, throughput, and OEE targets. Collaborate with Process Engineers to optimize molding processes and equipment performance. Support the implementation of robotics, vision systems, material handling systems, and automated assembly equipment. Participate in PFMEA reviews and manufacturing risk assessments to develop robust production solutions. [Equipment...n Engineer | Excel] Coordinate machine safety reviews and approvals with EHS representatives. [Equipment...n Engineer | Excel] Troubleshoot equipment issues and drive corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams. Maintain equipment standards, technical documentation, machine specifications, and validation records. Evaluate supplier performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience Automotive Manufacturing:
5 years (Preferred)
Plastic Injection Molding:
3 years (Preferred)
Capital Equipment Projects:
3 years (Preferred)
Qualifications:
Required Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing. Experience supporting plastic injection molding operations. Experience managing capital equipment projects. Knowledge of automation systems, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine controls. Strong project management and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. [Equipment...n Engineer | Excel] Preferred Experience with Engel, Husky, KraussMaffei, Milacron, or similar injection molding machines. Knowledge of automotive resins including PP, PC/ABS, Nylon, and engineered thermoplastics. SAP experience. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience. Tier 1 automotive supplier experience.
