Where is the work:
Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires. What's in it for you: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Trane Technologies, you will play a key role in developing innovative commercial HVAC products with a strong emphasis on airflow, air-movement systems, fans, and motors. In this role, you will lead technical efforts across product design, testing, and validation while solving complex engineering challenges that drive sustainable, high-performing solutions to market. You will apply deep expertise in airflow, heat transfer, and thermal performance to evaluate concepts, optimize subsystem design, and support critical product decisions. Working cross-functionally with engineering, design, and lab teams, you will help ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards while advancing continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will do:
Support the design, development, testing, and sustaining of unitary HVAC products with a focus on fans, motors, and air-movement systems, including concept evaluation, component selection, and engineering specification development. Apply engineering fundamentals in airflow, heat transfer, and thermal performance to assess technical feasibility, support product design decisions, and help optimize subsystem performance. Develop and execute laboratory test plans, analyze test data, and support product validation activities to ensure performance, quality, and reliability. Use engineering tools and methods such as CFD, structured problem solving, and reliability-focused processes to evaluate designs, investigate issues, and support continuous product improvement. Work effectively across design, test, and cross-functional teams while supporting compliance with applicable standards and test requirements, including familiarity with UL, AHRI, ANSI, CSA, ASHRAE, and DOE expectations. Provide leadership to engineering teams including engineers, designers, lab technicians Perform process improvement projects to improve team productivity.
What you will bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in an Engineering discipline. 5+ years experience leading technical aspects of product design projects, validation testing, and root cause analysis. Demonstrated experience in delivering and lead technical designs, development, and testing with a focus on fans, motors, and air-movement systems, including concept evaluation, component selection, and/or engineering specification development. Demonstrated experience applying engineering fundamentals in airflow, heat transfer, and thermal performance to assess technical feasibility, support product design decisions, and help optimize subsystem performance.
