Franklin Engineering Group, Inc. is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm founded in 1998 and located in the Nashville, TN area. Franklin Engineering specializes in industrial design, specialty material handling, environmental process and sustainability services for the private sector, as well as the Department of Defense and its sub-contractors. Our industry experience and breadth of technical knowledge allows us to solve problems and lead successful projects. Position:
As a Project Engineer, you will assist the Project Manager with overall project budget, scope, and schedule management of industrial and chemical process facility design and construction. The position will also involve maintaining client relationships through significant customer interaction. As Project Engineer, you will work with the Franklin Engineering team to support a wide variety of projects. You will work with other Franklin engineers of different disciplines to deliver quality designs to support a successful project. During execution of a typical project, you will interact with coworkers, clients, contractors and vendors during the design process, all the way through project construction and startup.
Responsibilities:
Work in multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality designs within budget and agreed schedules Assist with multiple project engineering and construction projects as assigned Communicate with project stakeholders the progress relative to plan Assist with managing project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope Assist with cost estimates and manage budgets Recognize and manage design changes Provide site construction and equipment installation observation Collaborate with engineers and contractors on new construction/renovation projects Work with functional leads in the areas of process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls design Communicate with and build teams across multiple disciplines Review designs for production facilities Current knowledge of recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP) and building codes Read and interpret design drawings and specifications Maintain quality control Applicants may be subject to pre-employment screening which may include drug screening, reference checks, employment verifications, background screening and/or skills assessments.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of project engineering and or project management experience inside process plants, industrial facilities, or military installations. Experience in chemical processing plant operations, mechanical and or electrical maintenance, or project engineering preferred Working knowledge of Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical disciplines, and their interaction with Process design Strong analytical skills Working knowledge of licensed engineering services and local jurisdiction permitting protocols Task oriented, results driven and possess measurable leadership experiences Experience with Mechanical, Electrical and Process (MEP) engineering Experience with multi-discipline capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, Contractors, and System Integrators Good Understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction) Familiar with facilities document control systems Experience with as-built drawings Experience with project close out: reviewing construction specifications, as-builts, IO&M manuals and submittals Proficient with written and verbal technical communication including generating reports and conducting group presentations Basic understanding of hazards associated with designing or working around energetic/explosive materials is desired
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited school
Desired Licenses:
Professional Engineer or FE/EIT certification desired but not required
