Full-Time Position Overview A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm in the Nashville area is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3+ years of HVAC design experience to join its growing team. This position is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical building systems who is looking to take on greater responsibility and continue developing technically and professionally. The selected candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, industrial, and hospitality projects. You will have the opportunity to contribute throughout the full project lifecycle, working closely with experienced engineers, architects, clients, and other design disciplines. Key Responsibilities Design HVAC and mechanical building systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, and industrial facilities. Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork design, ventilation calculations, and related engineering analysis. Develop mechanical plans, details, schedules, specifications, and construction documents. Produce and coordinate mechanical designs using Revit and AutoCAD . Coordinate HVAC systems with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and other engineering disciplines. Assist with HVAC equipment selection and evaluation of energy-efficient design solutions. Ensure designs comply with applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes. Review shop drawings and submittals and respond to RFIs during construction. Provide technical support throughout construction administration. Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination. Assist senior engineers and project managers with schedules, technical documentation, and quality-control reviews. Communicate with clients, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders as responsibilities grow. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. 3+ years of professional mechanical/HVAC design experience , preferably within an MEP or building systems consulting environment. Experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, or similar building projects. Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD . Experience performing HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, and construction documentation. Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, International Mechanical Code (IMC), and applicable energy codes . Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering construction documents. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple engineering and design disciplines. Preferred Qualifications Engineer-in-Training ( EIT ) certification or actively working toward professional licensure. Experience with Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar HVAC load-calculation software . Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable building design. Experience with healthcare, educational, industrial, or other technically complex facilities. Experience with BIM coordination and Navisworks. Interest in progressing toward project management and/or technical leadership responsibilities. #
NLIND Pay:
$86,960.24 - $108,726.31 per year
