full-time Job Summary Specialty Mechanical Engineers in the Projects Equipment Design Engineering organization develop design and procurement documentation for custom and first?of?a?kind mechanical systems, including glovebox systems, furnaces, high?vacuum systems, and metal casting/machining equipment. This role involves collaborating with designers, performing detailed engineering calculations, and producing complete build?to?print fabrication packages. The engineer supports the full lifecycle of specialty equipment design, from initial requirements through fabrication documentation. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop build?to?print design packages for custom mechanical systems.
  • Prepare procurement documents including equipment specifications, statements of work, and datasheets.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses such as:
  • Finite element analysis
  • Structural and seismic analysis
  • Ergonomic and kinematic evaluations
  • Heat?transfer calculations
  • Produce complete fabrication packages including drawings, specifications, procurement documents, and supporting analyses.
  • Lead multi?discipline engineering efforts involving mechanical, electrical, instrumentation/controls, HVAC, piping, process, and welding contributors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices. Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience designing custom mechanical systems (e.g., glovebox systems, furnaces, high?vacuum systems, metal casting/machining equipment).
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards relevant to specialty equipment design.
  • Proven ability to write detailed procurement and fabrication specifications for custom equipment.
  • Background in engineering analysis including FEA, structural and seismic analysis, ergonomics, kinematics, and thermal analysis.
  • Experience managing or coordinating multi?discipline engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using PTC Creo and/or SolidWorks. Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET?accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience designing and specifying custom mechanical equipment.
  • Q Clearance highly preferred.
