Job Description

We are recruiting an R&D Mechanical Engineer for an established manufacturer in the Portland, Tennessee area. This role is a good fit for a mechanical or product design engineer who enjoys taking an idea from concept through prototype, testing, and production. You will have hands-on access to engineering and manufacturing resources and work closely with teams across the business to develop products used in residential and commercial applications. What you'll do Lead product development projects through a structured design and approval process. Turn customer needs and business goals into practical product concepts and designs. Create and refine 3D models, drawings, and specifications. Build and evaluate prototypes using tools such as 3D printing, machine shop resources, and production equipment. Plan and perform testing to confirm product performance, function, and reliability. Work with manufacturing, quality, and other teams to resolve design issues and prepare products for production. Communicate project progress, technical findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers. Identify opportunities to improve existing products, materials, and manufacturing methods. Follow applicable safety procedures during design, prototyping, and testing. What we're looking for Experience in mechanical design, product development, or R&D for manufactured products. Proficiency with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks experience is preferred. Experience creating prototypes, evaluating designs, and using test results to guide improvements. Ability to manage projects and work through technical challenges with cross-functional teams. Clear communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach to engineering. Experience with products used in construction, building systems, or similar applications would be helpful. $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
