Job Description

Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer will develop and issue plant-design, fabrication, and manufacturing deliverables for industrial equipment and process systems. This position requires hands-on capability in creating and editing piping and instrumentation diagrams, building coordinated 3D plant models, and preparing production-ready Mechanical equipment drawings. The role coordinates with engineering, procurement, quality, vendors, machine shops, and construction teams to ensure that design information is accurate, manufacturable, and released on schedule. Works independently with available information and progresses projects to meet deliverables. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations using principles of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, and machine design.
  • Build and maintain 3D models of equipment, piping, supports, skid mounted units, and related plant components; generate layouts, sections, isometrics, and material takeoffs from the coordinated model.
  • Develop and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams from process information, equipment data, vendor documents, and interdisciplinary design inputs.
  • Review 3D models for equipment access, maintenance space, constructability, and clashes with piping, structural, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Create machining and fabrication drawings and verify that dimensions, tolerances, and geometric controls are practical for manufacturing and inspection.
  • Ability to create and modify CNC programs, run simulations, review post-processed code, and support machine prove-out while protecting personnel, machines, tooling, and workpieces is a plus.
  • Select materials of construction based on service conditions, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, fabrication requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Prepare technical specifications and data sheets for equipment and components such as pumps, compressors, heaters, valves, and piping items.
  • Review vendor drawings, technical offers, certificates, and manufacturing documents; resolve technical comments with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support design reviews, constructability reviews, fabrication activities, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and instruments.
  • Conduct or support vendor inspections using appropriate metrology tools, inspection plans, and quality-control procedures.
  • Coordinate design changes, document revisions, and technical clarifications to keep engineering and construction records current.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers and check assigned work for accuracy and compliance.
  • Managed Projects in an organized format using tools such as Excel, MS Project or Primavera P6. Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • PE license or EIT with a potential of obtaining PE in future.
  • Five to ten years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in processing plants, industrial equipment, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and checking engineering drawings and technical documentation for fabrication or construction. Technical Knowledge and Experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk products such as AutoCAD, Inventor professional, Fusion, AutoCad Plant 3D or comparable software.
  • Demonstrated experience producing piping and instrumentation diagrams and understanding the relationships among process data, equipment, piping classes, valves, instruments, controls, and safety devices.
  • Experience with pressure vessel and piping software such as Caesar II, PV Elite, NozzlePro.
  • Working knowledge of CNC milling and turning, G-code and M-code, cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, toolpaths, post-processors, and program verification. Experience with Fusion 360, Mastercam, Siemens NX CAM, or comparable CAM software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes and documentation, including welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification records, and welder performance qualifications.
  • Ability to apply relevant requirements of
ASME B31.3, ASME
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Division 1, and ASME Section IX.
  • Experience sizing or selecting process equipment and mechanical components such as pumps, compressors, heaters, valves, and piping components is preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and understand basic control-system hardware or software is preferred.
  • Practical experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment, coordinating root-cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound engineering judgment and the ability to make and support recommendations using calculations, code requirements, inspection results, and project constraints.
  • Ability to prioritize work, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and manage several assignments while meeting quality and schedule requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with customers, vendors, management, engineering staff, shop personnel, and construction teams.
  • Self-directed approach, attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Structured problem-solving skills and willingness to take ownership of technical issues through resolution. Position Details

Pay:
$86,087.89 - $103,675.74 per year
