Patterson-UTI Drilling Company LLC seeks an Engineer Sr in Springtown, TX to design new oilfield drilling components, equipment, and mechanical upgrades to existing designs, focusing on structural integrity, durability, and manufacturability. Design and engineer the mechanical assembly of oil drilling equipment, with emphasis on mechanical integration, structural load analysis, component sizing, and the selection of cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, and heat exchangers. Design custom mechanical components, as integrated elements of larger mechanical systems, performing stress analysis, load calculations, fatigue assessment, and ensuring overall structural integrity and system performance. Create detailed mechanical and hydraulic schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Maintain and update engineering records and documentation through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) system in accordance with company and industry standards. Create conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for assigned projects. Partner with the Quality department for implementation of new mechanical manufacturing processes and verification of vendor-supplied products. Interact with internal and external customers and suppliers. Perform measurement, functional testing, and troubleshooting of components and shop equipment to ensure proper fit, operation, and reliability.
Minimum Requirements:
 Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or closely related Engineering field and five (5) years of experience in a related mechanical design, drafting, and hydraulic systems occupation within the Drilling industry performing each of the following: utilizing 3D CAD/FEA software; mechanical design of open and closed loop hydraulic systems; working with hydraulic systems from all of the following Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs): Sun, Hawe, Sauer-Danfoss, Denison, Parker, Bosch Rexroth, Hagglunds, AKG, and Emmegi; utilizing control, indication, and alarm equipment for pressure, temperature, level and flow on mechanical and hydraulic systems as well as position and speed of mechanical components; utilizing electrical systems and controls for top drives, make and break machines, and mud pumps; and reading electrical diagrams and performing mechanical calculations, component sizing, and troubleshooting.
Travel Requirement:
 Up to 10% domestic travel is required to conduct occasional field visits for system surveys, installation oversight, and equipment commissioning. Apply via email to
