Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Arlington, Virginia, United States COHO Consulting Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Department of War's asset management and facility sustainment activities by reviewing, validating, and updating mechanical system data within SMS Builder (Sustainment Management System). The role ensures mechanical infrastructure components, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related facility assets, are accurately documented, analyzed, and maintained within the system of record to support lifecycle management, compliance, and maintenance planning. This position will be performed onsite in Arlington, VA. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Review, verify, and update mechanical infrastructure data within SMS Builder, including HVAC equipment, piping systems, plumbing components, pumps, valves, and associated mechanical assets. Conduct quality assurance reviews of facility mechanical component records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with engineering standards and asset management requirements. Analyze facility inspection results and incorporate validated updates into SMS Builder. Perform facility mechanical inspections when required to verify asset condition, configuration, and operational status of mechanical, piping, and plumbing systems. Identify discrepancies between field conditions, engineering documentation, and SMS Builder records and implement corrective updates. Support data analysis related to mechanical systems, maintenance trends, and facility sustainment planning. Generate reports and perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel to support engineering teams, facility managers, and program leadership. Collaborate with engineers, facility personnel, and asset management teams to ensure mechanical system records remain current and compliant with facility management standards.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field
Experience:
Experience conducting facility mechanical inspections, including HVAC, piping, or plumbing systems. Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data validation, filtering, pivot tables, and reporting. Ability to review engineering data and technical documentation related to mechanical systems, piping, and plumbing infrastructure. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies in engineering and asset management data. Experience using SMS Builder (Sustainment Management System) for facility asset management or infrastructure data management.
