(SPO) is a global leader in design innovation and manufacturing modular combination unit respiratory systems, breathing air compressors and storage systems, and thermal breaching systems. Special Projects Operations (SPO) is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Job purpose The Mechanical Engineer will utilize CAD software to create 3D models of components, assemblies, and manufacturing fixtures. The role will also require duties in the engineering lab to test products in support of customer and product development deliverables. The Mechanical Engineer also provides appropriate documentation and technical advice to both shop floor personnel and customers to ensure that each product meets customer quality and delivery requirements. The Mechanical Engineer will also be involved with all aspects of the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Duties and responsibilities Work with other Engineering Team Members to develop, design, and implement new mechanical designs pertaining to air compressors, and SCBA components and systems. Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOM's and engineering documentation using Solidworks. Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs Perform engineering calculations to support design work Create and present technical reports regarding the status and results of design or study assignments Complete projects within the assigned time frame. Prepare estimates of development costs Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering required 4-7 years of experience required Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong ability to interpret technical drawings Experience creating 3D drawings required using CAD software SolidWorks. Self-motivated and capable of managing own workload of multiple tasks Strong commitment to safety Hands-on mechanical aptitude Experience working with small engines and compressors or with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
