The role focuses on 3D CAD design, tooling and fixture development, finite element analysis (FEA) for structural validation, and driving prototypes through to production while ensuring manufacturability, reliability and cost-effectiveness. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work cross-functionally with electrical, controls and manufacturing teams and mentor junior engineers. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end mechanical design for new products and feature improvements, including 3D CAD modeling and detailed drawings. Design production tooling, fixtures and assembly aids supporting efficient manufacturing and high product quality. Perform FEA and other engineering analyses to validate designs, drive optimizations, and establish design safety factors and margins. Develop prototypes and test plans, execute validation testing, and iterate designs based on test results and feedback. Ensure designs follow DFM/DFA principles, tolerance analysis and robust tolerance stacks to meet assembly and performance requirements. Integrate electromechanical components such as electric motors, gears, sensors and pneumatics into mechanical systems. Collaborate closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing and supply chain teams to resolve issues and transition designs to production. Create and maintain accurate engineering documentation, BOMs, and CAD libraries; support supplier selection and technical audits. Mentor and coach junior mechanical engineers and technicians; drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and standards. Track and manage technical tasks and project progress using tools such as JIRA; contribute to schedule and risk management. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; Masters degree preferred. 7+ years of professional mechanical design experience with a strong track record of delivering production products. Demonstrated expertise in mechanical engineering principles, tooling design and design for manufacturability/assembly (DFM/DFA). Proven experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and interpreting results to drive design decisions. Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD and detailed mechanical design; experience with SolidWorks, CATIA and/or Creo is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with electric motors, gears, pneumatics, and electromechanical assemblies is a strong plus. Experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T, and specifying critical dimensions for high-yield manufacturing. Proven prototyping skills including test planning, lab work and iterative design validation. Familiarity with robotics/mechatronic systems, supplier management, and production handoff processes. Strong problem-solving, communication and leadership skills; ability to mentor others and work cross-functionally. Experience with PLM/PDM systems and task tracking tools (e.g., JIRA); familiarity with Ansys or similar FEA tools preferred.
