Job Description

McDonough/BID Canada Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our on-site engineering team. In this role, you will design and support equipment and systems used in sawmills and bulk material processing applications. You will work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to develop reliable, efficient solutions that meet our customer requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to custom engineering projects with a specialized industry while gaining experience with a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities Design & Model:
Develop detailed 3D models based on contract specifications, creating high-quality shop fabrication drawings. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Supplier Coordination:
Research and collaborate with external suppliers for purchased and outsourced components, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective parts.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to meet project timelines and specifications. Work closely with production teams to improve drawing quality and enhance shop efficiency, ensuring smooth manufacturing processes.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate directly with clients to verify that new equipment fits seamlessly into their existing facilities.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all designs meet both contractual and safety standards while maintaining accurate and up-to-date engineering documentation.
Sales Support:
Collaborate with the Sales team to create proposal drawings for new projects, helping to deliver tailored solutions to customers.
System Design:
Prepare detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks and other design software.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or a related discipline).
Experience:
At least 3-5 years of experience in design, 3D modelling.
Software Proficiency:
Proficient in SolidWorks and other relevant engineering software tools. Experience with Genius is a plus.
