Job Description

Job summary YSG Automation is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer at our Kohler, WI shop. You will design custom automation machinery and robotic work cells, then stay with the job through detailing, build, and debug. We are a family-owned integrator with our own machine shop, fabrication, panel build, and assembly floors. The person who designs the cell also walks it through manufacturing. This is an on-site role with up to 15% travel for customer start-up. Requirements 3+ years designing, detailing, and debugging custom machinery, tooling, fixtures, or robotic cells SolidWorks experience building parts, assemblies, and production drawings At least one large assembly you took from concept to running equipment Working knowledge of machine shop processes, materials, and power transmission (bearings, belts, chain, gearboxes, linear motion) Comfort selecting pneumatics and catalog components and building a complete BOM Associate degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, industrial technology, or equivalent experience. Bachelor's preferred Able to work on-site in Kohler, WI Nice to have Robotics and end-of-arm tooling (Fanuc, Yaskawa, KUKA, or similar) Plastics industry equipment: insert molding, part handling, secondary operations, assembly Exposure to PLCs, hydraulics, industrial vision, or machine safety standards PDM or formal drawing-release experience Responsibilities Lead mechanical design of custom machines and robotic work cells from concept through release Model frames, weldments, sheet metal, precision tooling, fixtures, and end-of-arm tooling in SolidWorks Select commercial components and apply machine-design fundamentals, GD&T, and manufacturability Design for cycle time, access, guarding, and service — catch interferences before steel is cut Check your own work and support machinists, fabricators, assemblers, and controls through build and runoff Support customer start-up as needed (travel up to 15%) Pay and benefits
Pay:
This is a salary plus position. $95,000 base with $45/hr overtime.
