Designer II Bock Corporation - 4.0 Madison, WI Job Details 22 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering Fluid dynamics Thermodynamics Data-driven problem-solving Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Apply engineering principles, including heat transfer and fluid dynamics, to support the development of high-quality water heating products. Design water heater components and subassemblies that meet the fit, form, and functional requirements of the final product assembly. Conduct and coordinate laboratory testing to support product development and performance improvement projects. Analyze data in accordance with government and industry standards using engineering and statistical methods. Support agency approval projects by conducting or overseeing standardized testing and managing certification file updates. Collaborate closely with vendors to develop new components from concept through approval. Create 3D models and 2D drawings for new and existing products using SolidWorks. Document design changes through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process and support implementation within manufacturing. Work with cross-functional teams to successfully introduce new products into production. Provide technical support to Product Support and Sales teams. Provide engineering support for manufacturing process improvement initiatives. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Provide engineering support to Bock's sister company, Tank Technology, Inc. (TTI). Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that illustrate proper assembly and testing methods for water heaters and related components. Develop programs for the LabVIEW data acquisition system to support product testing. Troubleshoot quality issues within the production environment. Attend at least one job-related training program annually. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Working Conditions Typical office and laboratory testing environment. Occasional travel to conferences and trade shows is required. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching in laboratory environments. May require occasional weekend or evening work, as well as overnight travel. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Three to five years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required. Strong technical knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics required. Strong mechanical aptitude required. Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks with the ability to produce accurate engineering drawings. Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation preferred. Familiarity with the LabVIEW data acquisition system preferred. Experience interpreting and applying construction and performance standards preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing systems, appliance venting, and electrical wiring preferred. Knowledge of government and industry standards is beneficial. Basic combustion knowledge preferred. Knowledge of effective communication techniques and public relations practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and MRP-related software. Skills and Abilities Maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and statistical analysis with a high degree of accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly and effectively.
