Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
- Develop bills of materials and engineering documentation.
- Support new product development, testing, and prototype evaluation.
- Assist manufacturing and assembly teams with design-related issues.
- Participate in prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation activities.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering problem-solving activities.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, service, and manufacturing teams.
- Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Develop expertise in XDS product lines and progressively assume ownership of engineering projects.
Role Description:
The Mechanical Engineer I role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah area. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer seeking hands-on experience in industrial machinery design, product development, and manufacturing support. The Mechanical Engineer I role will work closely with experienced engineering leaders to develop a thorough understanding of XDS drying, curing, cleaning, and related systems. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining CAD models and engineering drawings, supporting new product development initiatives, assisting with prototype builds and testing, and providing engineering support for manufacturing, assembly, and installation activities. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, project management, and service teams to develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements. As product knowledge and experience grow, the successful candidate will assume increasing responsibility for product design, project execution, and engineering ownership of assigned XDS product lines. Over time, this position will develop into a key engineering resource responsible for supporting product improvements, customer-specific projects, engineering documentation, troubleshooting, and research and development activities. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply engineering principles to industrial equipment and machinery.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, assembly creation, and engineering drawing development using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude with an interest in machine assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, sales, and project management.
- 0-2 years of mechanical engineering experience preferred.
Recent graduates with internships, co-op, senior design project, Formula SAE, Baja, robotics, or other relevant hands-on experiences are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to machine design, product design, or custom equipment design through internships, coursework, project work, or professional experience.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, assembly, and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
- Experience in creating 3D models, detailed drawings, bills of materials, and engineering documentation.
- Understanding materials selection and mechanical component design.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment, automation systems, printing, converting, packaging, or related industries.
- Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
- Exposure to product testing, troubleshooting, and prototype development.
