About the Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive innovation by transforming complex concepts into high-quality manufacturing solutions. You will leverage your expertise in 3D modeling and technical documentation to streamline production workflows and ensure our equipment meets the highest standards of performance and reliability. Responsibilities Develop detailed 3D concept models, prototypes, and production-ready drawings using SolidWorks. Manage the full project lifecycle, serving as the primary technical liaison between customer requirements and shop floor execution. Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and process documentation to guide purchasing and assembly teams. Optimize manufacturing efficiency by utilizing laser nesting and bending software to support fabrication processes. Drive continuous improvement by researching new technologies and design methodologies to enhance product quality and safety. Establish and enforce rigorous inspection criteria to ensure all deliverables meet functional and manufacturability standards. Collaborate on cost estimation and project reviews to maintain competitive positioning and project profitability. Review and approve engineering change requests, ensuring all technical documentation remains current and compliant. Required Skills Associate degree in a technical field or 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience. Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong grasp of shop math, including algebra and geometry for design calculations. Proven ability to interpret complex blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering diagrams. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders. Preferred Skills Experience with Metalix or similar laser nesting software. Background in material handling equipment design or custom fabrication. Demonstrated success in new product development and process optimization. Strong analytical problem-solving skills in non-standardized manufacturing environments.
