About the Role As a Mechanical Design Technician, you will serve as the vital link between conceptual design and precision manufacturing. You will leverage your expertise in CAD software and technical drafting to translate complex customer requirements into actionable blueprints that drive our production success. Responsibilities Develop and refine detailed 2D engineering prints and 3D models based on client sketches or technical specifications. Apply precise GD&T standards and material callouts to ensure all designs meet rigorous quality and tolerance benchmarks. Evaluate incoming project files for manufacturability, proactively identifying potential production obstacles. Manage comprehensive drawing libraries and maintain strict revision control to ensure operational accuracy. Partner directly with shop floor personnel to clarify technical specifications and resolve interpretation challenges. Provide dimensional analysis and technical support to assist the quoting team in delivering accurate project estimates. Create clear process documentation and work instructions to streamline the transition from design to fabrication. Qualifications Required Skills Proficiency in industry-standard CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360. Deep understanding of
ASME Y14.5 GD&T
standards and blueprint interpretation. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex design packages simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with technical teams. Preferred Skills Prior experience drafting for machined components, weldments, or complex castings. Practical knowledge of CNC machining processes and fabrication workflows. Associate or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related technical discipline.
