Job Description

ENGINEERING DRAFTSMAN JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Drafter is responsible for developing accurate 2D and 3D design drawings for pumping systems, packaged equipment, piping layouts, fabricated components, and related assemblies. This position works closely with Engineering, Sales, Production, Fabrication, and Quality teams to ensure drawings are complete, manufacturable, and aligned with customer requirements, internal standards, and production needs.
ENGINEERING DRAFTSMAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Drafting and Design Documentation Creates preliminary, submittal, and build drawings of pumping and piping systems including motors, couplings, belts, piping, valves, filters, instrumentation, and integration with electrical control systems. Creates and manages foundry and machining drawings for cast parts with underdraft, overdraft, and geometric tolerances. Creates assembly and subassembly drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) for fabrication and/or procurement. Sends out and evaluates RFQs for certain items. Checks to ensure integrity of completed layout, assembly and detail drawings of major and minor assemblies, systems and installations, subassemblies and components. Review, Quality and Compliance Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, critical interface compatibility, production aspects, cost, and dimensional accuracy of calculations and geometric tolerances. Reviews and checks design of parts for conformance to design/drafting standards, design specifications, functional completeness, interchangeability, design, manufacturing, and assembly, economy of fabrication, and identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies. Accurately interprets internal and customer design standards. Engineering and Manufacturing Support Coordinates with Application Engineers to incorporate center of gravity locations, shipping weight, and lifting plans. Makes design change requests to prevent improper design conditions or elements and confers with Engineering and/or Sales personnel to resolve all design problems detected in the review process. Coordinates with fabricators and machinists during manufacturing of major assemblies at the shop or in the field. Investigates pertinent design factors, such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, and serviceability. Leads incoming quality inspections either by performing the inspection or facilitating another department's inspection.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology and 1 year of relevant work experience or minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license.
ENGINEERING DRAFTSMAN SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to adhere to a Monday
  • Friday, 8 am
  • 5 pm in-office work schedule.
Must be completely proficient with 2D and 3D mechanical design using AutoCAD. Must have basic knowledge of general drafting standards. Be proficient in layer control, scaling drawings and utilizing layout tabs. Be able to create and manage block files. Be able to manage multiple group assemblies within drawings. Import various file types into AutoCAD. Utilize geometric tolerance drafting annotations. Digitizing and/or tracing drawings from PDF files (or other image files) to utilize in design. Create and manage AutoCAD As-built files. Be able to communicate with multiple departments and cross-train.
ENGINEERING DRAFTSMAN PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with Autodesk Fusion 360. Knowledge of 3D software (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Revit). Knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Green Belt certification.
