Position Summary EKS Thermal Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to support the design and production of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment at our manufacturing facility in Caldwell, Idaho. The Mechanical Drafter will create and maintain accurate mechanical drawings, 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing documentation. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and other departments to ensure designs are accurate, practical, and production-ready. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Drafting and Design Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and equipment layouts Develop and modify 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks Interpret engineering designs, specifications, sketches, and technical instructions Create and maintain bills of materials, drawing revisions, and related documentation Apply company standards, industry practices, and applicable drafting conventions Engineering and Manufacturing Support Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to resolve design and production issues Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturability Incorporate engineering changes and maintain accurate revision control Provide drafting support for new products, custom equipment, and design modifications Assist with the development and continuous improvement of drafting standards and procedures Required Qualifications Previous experience as a mechanical drafter, CAD drafter, design drafter, or similar role Proficiency with mechanical CAD software Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Experience with SolidWorks Technical degree or certificate in drafting, mechanical design, engineering technology, or a related field Experience with commercial or industrial refrigeration, HVAC, sheet metal, piping, or fabricated equipment Work Environment This position operates within both an office and manufacturing environment and requires regular collaboration with engineering and production personnel. The role primarily involves computer-based drafting and review of technical drawings, with occasional visits to the production floor. Employees are expected to follow all company safety procedures and applicable workplace policies.
