POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direct supervision of the Engineering & Avionics Manager, the employee will prepare mechanical, structural, and electrical drawing packages associated with several different types of aircraft/rotorcraft repairs and modifications. Responsible for research and include complete drawing detail and process specification callouts. Will update existing drawing packages reflecting configuration changes. Assist in project planning and development by creating conceptual/presentation drawings. Assist management with the creation of flowcharts, organizational charts, area maps, etc.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for different types of technical drawings: Multi-view Pictorial Schematic 2D and 3D AutoCAD Will prepare mechanical and electrical drawings associated with several types of aircraft/rotorcrafts. Drawing details will vary from rough sketches to production quality drawings. Responsible for checking newly developed drawing packages to assure production quality, drawings contain all the information necessary for manufacturing and assembling of the complete product. May also be called upon to aid in the preparation of technical reports including, but not limited to, repair procedures and test reports. Assist maintenance personnel with installation activities when required Design and setup mockups with the assistance of other departments Assist other departments with their design(s) Modify existing off-the-shelf products to comply with the needs of the company and produce the proper documentation to reflect this modification Draftsmen are routinely required to leave their table or desk and visit aircraft for sketching and taking measurements Typical projects require drawings of: Single- part details Subassemblies Mechanical installations Layout for sheet metal parts Technical illustrations varying from simple sketches to complex, shaded drawings Artwork for use with decal photographic printing process Final drawings of electrical or electronic circuits from engineering sketches Pictorials of wiring harness routing throughout airframe structures Aircraft paint schemes Assist clerical personnel when needed Helping with the control of original drawings, filing of drawings, making copies, and performing miscellaneous related duties as assigned Evaluate any new or upgraded software package or technologies that will better suit the needs of the Engineering Department Print 3D prototypes of proof of concept as required
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS A
minimum of a two-year technical school diploma in structural or mechanical drafting or equivalent, with proficiency in the use of drafting and computer aided equipment Alternate qualifications may be considered for applicability Must have aptitude for detail; quality work requires accuracy, neatness, thoroughness, and competence to achieve order Must be logical, resourceful, and systematic about developing detailed drawings communications A strong mechanical aptitude with a desire and ability to solve problems is essential Should be able to think and see in two and three dimensions Will be required to develop an understanding of computer systems, acquire and put into use basic computer skills daily Will be required to develop Computer Aided Drafting and Design techniques and apply these capabilities Prior technical knowledge and training in AutoCAD, with a basic understanding of FAA certification processes preferred Must be able to coordinate work and ideas with other members of the technical staff.
