The Role:

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for documenting product and part drawings and maintaining bills of materials. This role responds to and supports engineering needs from a product design and production standpoint. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a high degree of technical skills in mechanical design using SolidWorks. It will be your job to document 3D models and 2D drawings for all product designs (new, custom, and current). You will work directly with both the engineering and production teams, focusing on continuous improvement across all products and parts currently in production. You will be a member of the Engineering department and report directly to its head. ​

Responsibilities:

Create detailed part and assembly drawings from existing 3D models Document exact dimensions, surface finishes, tolerances, and materials needed for manufacturing Perform data entry of both part and BOM information into our business system software Revise existing documents and bills of materials (BOMs) when engineering changes occur Create BOMs for custom product orders. Custom product orders require the creation of new and/or modified parts, along with all necessary documentation to modify or produce those parts. This is an ongoing, rapid-turnover process. Update 3D models and 2D drawings as needed for ECO/BOM updates. Assist with creating assembly instructions by providing any required 2D drawings. Assist with the creation of custom packaging by providing any required 2D drawings. Assist with prototype assembly and validation. Work closely with engineering, design, sourcing, and sales in a collaborative, on-demand manufacturing environment.

Requirements:

Mid-level SolidWorks experience. 1-3 years of mechanical drafting experience, with an understanding of manufacturing processes and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Associate degree or technical certification in drafting or design technology Critical thinking; the ability to foresee problems and suggest multiple solutions. Mechanical aptitude. Strong mechanical aptitude with an eye for detail. Communication. Good communication is essential. We are a small team, and everyone's input matters. Professionalism.

Salary based on experience.
