Job Description

About the Role We are an established and growing electrical contractor serving multifamily residential and commercial projects across North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Electrical CAD Drafter to join our Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) / Coordination Department. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is tech-savvy, eager to learn, and is looking to build a long-term career in electrical design, CAD drafting, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). We are willing to train the right candidate who possesses strong computer skills and a positive work ethic, though prior AutoCAD experience or certification is a strong plus! What You'll Be Doing Phase 1: Immediate Core Focus Unit Electrical Coordinated Drawings (ECDs): Clean architectural CAD backgrounds and assemble detailed 2D unit layouts for multifamily projects.
Block & Asset Placement:
Utilize standard CAD block libraries to place electrical devices, receptacles, switches, lighting, and panels.
Dimensioning & Circuiting:
Dimension device locations from finished wall lines, draw circuit routes, and align panel schedules with branch circuiting.
File Management & Deliverables:
Clean incoming trade files (XREFs, Purge, Audit) and generate clean, standardized PDF drawing packages for field installation. Phase 2: Career Growth Potential 3
D BIM Modeling:
Learn and assist with 3D modeling (Revit / Navisworks) for conduit racks, switchgear, and structural penetrations.
Surveyor Field Prep:
Prepare civil CAD files and generate 2D/3D layout points for field total station surveyors.
Elevations & Detailing:
Assist with drafting vertical kitchen and bath height elevations and detail sheets.
Site & Underground Coordination:
Assist in coordinating site underground conduits, secondary feeds, and site lighting layouts with civil plans.
What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications:
High proficiency with computers, Windows OS, MS Office (Excel, Word), and standard digital file management. High attention to detail, strong spatial awareness, and good organizational skills. Ability to follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and drafting guidelines. Strong willingness to learn electrical drafting standards and AutoCAD software. Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience using AutoCAD or an Autodesk CAD Certification / associates degree in Drafting/Design. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, or electrical construction drawings/blueprints. Basic understanding of residential or commercial electrical systems. Experience with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus. Why Join Us? We don't just hire drafters; we build careers.
