Mechanical Drafter Job Description We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join our expanding team. This role is crucial to the success of our organization by contributing to design, overseeing current projects, and collaborating with sales and production teams. The Mechanical Drafter will assist in a variety of engineering projects, mechanical drafting, CNC programming/nesting, and manage processes, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful completion. Responsibilities Serve as one of the engineering design and technical experts for engineering, sales, and production teams, as well as internal and external customers. Collaborate directly with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Draft Team to address questions and resolve issues raised by team members and other staff including Sales and Operations. Ensure the accuracy of work performed by the engineering draft team. Develop part drawings from structural drawings, prepare part drawings for nesting, and use nesting software to prepare and review part nests before sending to the post-processor. Then, review and post nests for fabrication. Participate in research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes. Communicate and collaborate with the engineering team and production to ensure timely process flow of current projects. Assist fabrication in quickly resolving priorities and issues. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and perform additional tasks as needed. Essential Skills Proficiency in mechanical design and drafting. Experience with SolidWorks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. Strong sense of urgency and goal-driven mentality. Analytical and mathematical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities. Strong team player. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certification in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software. Certification in AutoCAD. Experience in AutoCAD drafting with the ability to extract features and develop/manipulate parts. Capability to review newly created parts for the nesting operation. Work Environment The work environment involves collaboration with engineering, sales, and production teams. The role requires use of various design and nesting software, and involves working in a timeline-driven setting. The candidate should be prepared for a fast-paced and dynamic work atmosphere with a focus on continuous learning and problem-solving. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wilkesboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
