Drafting Apprentice

The Drafting Apprentice prepares documents and drawings for plant fabrication and builder erection of materials, based on the order documents, design package, and drafting procedures. They ensure the drafting is accurate, complete, and includes all appropriate drawings and documentation. The complexity of orders will increase based on the drafter's abilities and milestones progression.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop complete familiarity with Chief's products and procedures. Develop computer literacy in AutoCAD, FOCUS, MBS, IFS and other tools/systems available. Prepare erection drawings with accurate part identification, quantities, and complete sections and details for proper installation of materials. Prepare fabrication documents that include accurate part identification, quantities, material utilization, and complete information about holes, clips, and plates in assemblies. Keep accurate records of project hours, time worked, and group leader informed of schedule status and potential delays. Establish positive constructive communication with all stakeholders. Cultivate skills and practices to generate work products with high quality, efficiency, and service. Exercise sound judgment on details affecting economics of field erection versus plant fabrication. Make recommendations to management for improving processes.
