What we do... HindlePower has been designing and manufacturing industrial (non-commercial) battery chargers and dc power systems for the utility industry for over 35 years. Our staff and products serve the power generation and distribution market, switchgear OEMs, power substations, the oilgas industry, and various transportation maintenance facilities. We are the leaders in our industry and have customers in all 50 states plus additional countries worldwide. What you'll do... HindlePower is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Mechanical Engineering Team and support the design, release, and sustainment of industrial battery chargers and DC power systems. This role is deeply integrated into our product development and manufacturing processes and is well-suited for someone who thrives in a hands-on, high-ownership engineering environment. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, manufacturing, supply chain, and production to develop robust mechanical designs that move efficiently from concept through production and long-term support. This position supports both new product development and existing product platforms. In this role, you will: Design and release mechanical components and assemblies for industrial battery chargers and DC power systems Develop sheet metal enclosures, internal brackets, frames, and panels for power electronics products Design machined components for products and internal manufacturing equipment Own mechanical designs through concept, release, production support, and sustaining engineering Produce and maintain accurate manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and documentation Apply DFM principles throughout the design process Collaborate with suppliers to optimize cost, manufacturability, quality, and lead time Design fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing and automation Participate in cross-functional design reviews and production meetings Support production with issue resolution, drawing clarifications, and corrective actions Contribute to documentation and support activities related to product certifications Actively contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the Mechanical Team Candidates selected for an interview should be prepared to share a portfolio of relevant mechanical design work. What you bring... Desired ExperienceQualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field 5+ years of experience in a mechanical design role in a manufacturing or industrial environment 2-3+ years of
SOLIDWORKS
experience, with strong emphasis on sheet metal design (CSWA cert. or greater a plus) Experience supporting products through full lifecycle: concept, release, production, sustainment Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability Ability to work from engineering specifications and functional requirements Experience with products requiring electrical, environmental, or seismic certification is a plus Familiarity with electric switchgear or power electronics enclosures is a plus ToolsSystems SolidWorks, PDM, 3DExperience Platform 2D CAD tools (DraftSight or similar) ERP systems (experience preferred) Microsoft Office Suite A few things about us...
