Essential Functions Duties include review and check for correctness per the contract documents, verify job files for product information, ensure that BOM released for fabrication is correct, and coordinate between production and the customer the delivery of materials and erection field-use drawings and resolve any outstanding issues. Qualifications We require 2 years of structural steel, roof panel, wall panel, steel joist or steel deck experience or experience in a related industry. Candidate must be able to read architectural/structural plans and specifications and possess excellent communication and organizational skills especially in file management. Intermediate skills required in Microsoft Office Suite and Auto CAD. A High school degree or equivalent certification. College degree a plus. Position will entail preparing field installation drawings using AutoCAD including plan layouts and sectional details for building structures. Coordination with architects, Engineers, General Contractors, Steel Fabricators and other trades as necessary. Must be able to layout structural steel framing members and apply steel deck products to these layouts. After training, this function is to be performed with minimal supervision. Job Responsibilities Prepare shop drawings of deck, accessories and related items of products based on contract documents Drawings and layouts shall be in accordance with company guidelines and the product's specifications Assist the chief draftsman and/or checkers with any questions or problems that may arise during the duration of the project Communicate verbally with customer and/or customer's representative in a clear and concise method in regard to discrepancies in contract document Assist the checkers, as required by the chief draftsman, project scheduler, or drafting department manager with scrubbing field use drawings Check drawings and prepare cut lists of approved shop drawings, as directed by the chief draftsman or drafting department manager Participate in Drafting Department training and education programs as directed by the drafting department manager Thoroughly review job file/specifications prior to beginning job. Become proficient with Deck Cad programs Job Requirements Ability to read and understand construction documents. General knowledge of basic math and trigonometry. Ability to layout deck/structural steel. Ability to prepare detailed field use and shop drawings. Ability to maintain expected production levels of equal employees. Minimum of 2-5 years of drafting experience, a High School Diploma and a minimum Associate Degree in AutoCAD / Drafting and one (1) years of work experience in a related construction drawings/documents field.
