Job Overview ResourceTek's client, a consulting engineering company with headquarters in Nashville, TN has a need for a Plant 3D Piping Designer experienced in the Chemical/Oil/Gas and Refinery industries. Qualified candidates must be experienced using the 3D AutoPlant Design System on a AutoCAD base. Knowledgeable of all processes related to the Chemical, Oil, Gas and Refinery industries is essential. Candidate must also have a background as a Lead Designer. The selected candidate will start out providing initial design projects specifications, title blocks, scales, etc. They will assist other piping designers with any concerns/questions related to P&ID drawings, piping and mechanical design services as well. We need a self-starter who can work independently, but being part of a team is also essential. This is a short-term assignment (2-3 months ) with the possibility to be extended. This role is based out of Nashville, TN area but will consider remote designers that will travel to client sites as needed. Responsibilities Develop detailed 3D piping models and layouts as well as ISO generation utilizing Plant 3D, Revit, NavisWorks, and other CAD software to ensure accurate representation of mechanical systems. Create comprehensive Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and CAD documentation aligned with project specifications. Collaborate closely with project engineers, mechanical designers, and construction teams to ensure design integrity and constructability. Apply industry standards such as ASME codes & standards during the design process to maintain compliance. Generate fabrication drawings, system schematics, and assembly instructions for manufacturing and construction teams. Utilize tools like Bluebeam for markup review, document management, and quality control processes. Incorporate feedback from technical reviews, perform revisions, and maintain version control within PDM (Product Data Management) software. Qualifications Proven experience as a Plant 3D Piping Designer or similar role within industrial or infrastructure projects. Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, Revit, NavisWorks, Bluebeam, and BIM tools. Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles, 2D CAD drafting techniques, and 3D modeling for product or system design. Knowledge of piping systems design standards such as ASME codes & standards. Familiarity with P&IDs creation, schematics development, and CAD documentation practices.
