Job Description

Position Summary A Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating and designing mechanical systems, products, or components using computer-aided design (CAD) software. They collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop innovative and efficient designs, ensuring functionality, safety, and adherence to industry standards. Mechanical Designers create detailed drawings, perform calculations, and conduct simulations to test and validate designs. They may also assist in prototype development, manufacturing processes, and troubleshooting mechanical issues. Strong technical skills, creativity, attention to detail, and knowledge of engineering principles are essential for success in this role. Supervision NONE Essential Responsibilities Assist Mechanical Engineering efforts in product development process. Create basic design drawings with assistance. Create documentation to support assembly. Gain familiarity with strengths of materials, steel and copper. Gain familiarity with industry codes and standards. Gain familiarity with electrical design. Strive to keep current on the 'state of the art' in design specialty through periodicals, trade magazines, and continuing education. Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products. Minimum Qualifications High School Graduate or GED. Minimum 1 year of design experience in a manufacturing environment. Basic drafting/CAD skills, Inventor, or 3D CAD software required. Preferred Qualifications Skills, Abilities & other Requirements Working & Environmental Conditions Generally, requires working in a climate-controlled environment. Physical requirements include talking, hearing, reaching, and the ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. There will be some work in a laboratory and shop environments and exposure to the elements of our shop. There will be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
