Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Piping Designer to support piping design projects for heavy industrial facilities. This position will perform advanced 3D piping design, develop fabrication and installation drawings, support field activities, and collaborate with engineering and other design disciplines to develop complete project packages.
Essential Duties:
Perform piping drafting and design, including 3D pipe routing, pipe supports, isometric drawings, and fabrication/installation sketches. Read and interpret equipment drawings, vendor information, technical data, P&IDs, specifications, and project requirements. Develop, quantify, and organize piping material take-offs (MTOs). Follow CAD standards, piping specifications, applicable codes, and plant standards. Perform fieldwork to gather information, verify tie-ins, and provide construction support. Check and back-check drawings for accuracy, compliance, and completeness. Collaborate with designers and engineers across multiple disciplines to develop complete design packages and 3D models. Develop and update P&IDs for plant layout and piping design. Support piping design from conceptual development through plant layout and detailed design of process and utility piping systems. Apply knowledge of instrumentation and its impact on piping design.
Requirements/Skills:
8-12 years of experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Navisworks on heavy industrial projects. Experience with point cloud software such as Autodesk ReCap or CloudWorx. Strong process plant design background, including conceptual design, plant layout, and process and utility piping systems. Strong understanding of piping design and drafting practices, specifications, codes, and plant standards. Ability to visualize and lay out process plants and piping in 3D. Ability to develop and work from P&IDs for plant layout and piping design. Knowledge of process and utility piping specifications and applicable codes. Basic knowledge of structural steel design related to equipment supports, pipe racks, and building framing. Basic knowledge of instrumentation types and their impact on piping design. Clash detection experience is a plus. Strong technical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to meet deadlines and work overtime as needed. Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Sit for extended periods of time. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Use hands and arms to reach, grasp, manipulate, and handle objects. Ability to work in both remote/office and industrial job-site environments. Occasional travel to job sites may be required.
