•August) Big West Oil's Internship program is a structured summer internship opportunity for those actively enrolled in a program

•Trade, Tech school, or University. You will gain hands-on experience in your area of study and receive directed mentorship while under the guidance of seasoned professionals. This role offers the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world tasks, helping you develop a strong foundation for your professional future. We are looking for those in the following programs: Industrial Design Drafting and Design Design Technology CADD Position Summary Are you passionate about industrial design and eager to see your work come to life in a complex plant setting? This internship places you at the heart of refinery operations, where you'll support the engineering team in drafting, modeling, and updating technical drawings for critical equipment and infrastructure. You'll work with CAD software, assist in field verifications, and help ensure design accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities Create and revise mechanical drawings using AutoCAD, CadWorx, and other 3D Design software. Assist in the design and documentation of piping systems, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and structural supports. Collaborate with engineers to translate design concepts into detailed technical drawings. Conduct field visits to verify dimensions, collect data, and support drawing updates. Help maintain drawing databases and ensure proper document control. Participate in 3D laser scanning projects using Cyclone Register360 and integrate 3D laser scan data into AutoCAD Design workflows. Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Currently enrolled as a full-time student, pursuing a degree or certificate in Design & Drafting Technology, or a related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred). Familiarity with piping & mechanical drafting principles utilizing CAD software (AutoCAD, CadWorx, or equivalent). Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to work in an industrial environment and conduct field verifications.
