Direct Hire Mechanical Designer | Ogden, UT Nexeo Staffing is hiring a Mechanical Designer for a direct-hire opportunity supporting a long-term infrastructure modernization program in Ogden, Utah. This role supports the Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of a federally funded initiative focused on the design of secure, mission-critical underground facilities. This is a facility-focused mechanical design role, not manufacturing or production-line work. The Mechanical Designer will support the development of HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems for large, complex facilities, including underground infrastructure and launch-related systems. Candidates with experience in data centers, nuclear facilities, petrochemical plants, hospitals, or large commercial buildings will be the best fit. This onsite position offers a 9x80 schedule, paid overtime, and long-term program stability. Responsibilities Prepare 2D intelligent Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from sketches and marked-up drawings Review drawings and documents prepared by others to ensure compliance with drafting standards, procedures, and discipline requirements Maintain data integrity for component lists and design databases Support mechanical and piping design documentation for facility-level systems, including HVAC and utility piping Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to resolve design issues Apply redlines and revisions accurately and efficiently Meet project schedules while delivering high-quality, consistent work products Qualifications Valid driver's license or state-issued identification required Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Experience using mechanical design and drafting tools, such as: AutoCAD MicroStation

PDS 2D / PDS 3D

SmartPlant P&ID / Component Databases Experience working in a project team environment supporting complex engineering efforts Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate design documentation Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents Strong communication and collaboration skills One of the following: High School Diploma or GED with 6+ years of relevant mechanical design experience Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of related mechanical design experience

Preferred:

Experience supporting large-scale industrial, manufacturing, construction, or infrastructure projects Preferred / Desired Qualifications Experience using SmartPlant 3D (highly preferred; AutoCAD candidates will be considered) Strong background in P&IDs, including creating, revising, and modernizing full system diagrams Experience with HVAC systems, refrigeration piping, ducting, and pressure vessels Facility design experience in: Nuclear or government facilities Petrochemical or industrial plants Data centers or hospitals Large commercial or institutional buildings Experience coordinating with engineers to generate complete mechanical documentation packages Stable work history demonstrating long-term project involvement Pay Rate $95,000 - $125,000 Annually Schedule Ogden, UT (100% Onsite) Full Time | 9x80 Schedule | Every Other Friday Off Relocation Assistance Available Nexeo Benefits
