Engineering Intern Position Summary:
Assists the Engineering Department with a variety of mechanical and electrical engineering projects, including design, drafting, documentation, and other project-related activities. Works alongside experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience while supporting the development of custom-engineered electrical and mechanical systems and equipment. Other duties may be assigned. Project Design 1. Assist in preparing preliminary and detailed design drawings using the Auto Cad, Solid Works, Solid Edge or similar engineering CAD software 2. Assist in reviewing customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application 3. Use 3D modeling and 2D drawings to update current designs 4. Work with engineering team to help develop engineering design concepts for components and electromechanical assemblies that have tough requirements for size, precision, reliability and cost 5. Under direct supervision, read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports 6. Assist with program designed and developed sheet metal parts for laser cutting and bending 7. Assist with structural or mechanical analysis of manufactured equipment in compliance with AISC, IBC, and other applicable codes 8. Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction 9. Attends PPR meetings
