Full Job Description Drafter II Purpose:
Valkyrie has an immediate need for a Drafter II who will provide key support for Department of Defense (DoD), Department of State (DoS) and other US Federal Government Electrical and Electronic Systems drafting requirements. Under general supervision, assist with the development of engineering drawings, plans and sketches. Located in Norfolk, VA.
Job Description:
Uses AutoCAD, and other drafting tools, to prepare and assist in the development of engineering drawings, plans, and sketches. Produce drawings that include complex design features requiring considerable drafting skills to visualize and portray. Read, interpret, and draw electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical diagrams and schematics. Directly interface with upper management, engineers, and senior DoD personnel on plans and/or status of projects deadlines. Understand and adhere to DoD, customer and company policies and practices while updating and maintain drawing tracking databases using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (I.e., Project and Excel), and other software-based applications. Performs drafting for a wide spectrum of assignments requiring alternative analysis, innovation and judgment based on standards. Assumes responsibility for contributing to the success of major or multiple projects with minimal supervision. Provide engineering assistance in preparing project packages for installation, and As-Built drawings. Update various engineering drawings per drawing standards. Utilize government provided redline drawings and/or other changes to update technical data packages and drawings for final release. Update and maintain drawing tracking databases. Participate in surveys at customer's site (may include austere locations within and outside of the Continental United States) Assignments require the use of mathematical formulas to draw and work from sketches and models. Uses verbal or written information supplied by engineering staff and designers. Resolves routine problems with little to no supervisor input.
Qualifications:
Associate Degree +3 years of CAD experience in a professional engineering environment OR 5 years of CAD experience with a HS Diploma. Completed formal CAD instruction course or training. Familiar with drafting standards, symbols, and engineering terms. Working knowledge of basic electrical and electronic principles. Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements and practices. Familiarity with electronics/electrical systems including, but not limited to:
Intrusion Detection Systems Access Control Systems Closed Circuit Television Intercom Systems Mass Notification Systems IP Network Infrastructure ISP/OSP Infrastructure Conduit Installation Low Voltage Electronic Systems Desired Qualifications:
Familiarly with DoD and DoS drawing requirements. Manufacturer's certification or technical training is highly desirable (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, BICSI). Ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment, be detailed orientated, and self-motivated. Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently or under limited supervision. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Acrobat. Current Passport. A current DoD "Secret" security clearance.
Security Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD "Secret" security clearance with the possibility to upgrade to "Top Secret" if required. Must be a US Citizen with a valid Driver's License.
Travel Requirements:
Between 10% - 20% Travel, international and domestic, depending on program requirements. If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), Inside or Outside / Noise levels
