Job Description

Position Description The Mechanical Detailer II performs intermediate drafting and modeling tasks for electro-mechanical switchgear projects. The role works with moderate supervision to develop submittal, construction, and as-built drawing packages and contributes to BOM development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Drafting Modeling Create detailed SolidWorks assemblies, submittals, construction sets, and as-built drawings Modify and revise existing drawings for engineering, customer, or manufacturing needs Model components and assemblies under direction from engineers Documentation Configuration Control Create and maintain BOMs and related documentation for fabrication Manage and release non-pull and run projects through the EC process Ensure documentation accuracy and traceability throughout lifecycle stages Standards Processes Apply drafting, engineering, and department design standards consistently Maintain file organization and compliance within engineering systems Technical Collaboration Work cross-functionally with mechanical and design engineering teams Apply basic understanding of electro-mechanical switchgear to design work Support continuous improvement initiatives in design processes and document quality Performs additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills Abilities Required Working knowledge of mechanical drafting standards and modeling practices Ability to produce part, assembly, submittal, construction, and as-built drawings Skill in applying tolerancing, revision control, and drawing standardization Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into technical documentation Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with engineers and fabrication teams Preferred Understanding of electro-mechanical assemblies and components Familiarity with bill of materials (BOM) development Working knowledge of fabrication or manufacturing processes Ability to troubleshoot drawing discrepancies and propose solutions Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Takes initiative and is driven to complete tasks Ability to work as a team and collaborate with others Qualifications Experience An associate's degree in mechanical design or a technical diploma in an engineering-related field, along with at least 3 to 7 years of experience using CAD software (preferably SolidWorks), is required. Candidates with at least 3 to 7 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or production environment are preferred. Equivalent work experience of at least 7 years may also be considered. Travel Occasional (optional) Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. The employee is frequently required to sit and rarely required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee uses computer keyboards often. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor often.
