Job Description

Most mechatronics internships keep you in the lab. This one doesn't. You'll design and build real robotic hardware and sit inside the operations that make those robots possible — talking directly with suppliers, managing inventory, coordinating international shipments, and learning the manufacturing limits of every part and process we use. You'll also present your work directly to company executives. It's a rare hybrid role that blends engineering, operations, and business exposure. If you want to understand how a robotics company actually runs — not just how its hardware is designed — this role gives you that end-to-end view. About Anyware Robotics Anyware Robotics builds general-purpose mobile manipulator robots for industrial applications. Our robots are trusted by customers across logistics, retail, and manufacturing, supporting applications such as truck unloading, mobile palletizing, and machine tending. Description What You'll Do Engineering & Hardware Design and prototype mechanical components for next-generation Pixmo robots using SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings, basic GD&T). Support assembly, testing, debugging, and validation across a wide range of systems — servo motors, robotic arms and end effectors, batteries and power systems, vacuum systems, sensors, and actuators. Optimize for performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost, working alongside software, electrical, and systems engineers. Supply Chain & Operations Work directly with suppliers on lead times, pricing, and availability — including sourcing new vendors and participating in cross-border negotiation in both Mandarin and English. Make sure hardware is ready for builds, testing, and customer deployments. Own inventory management for robotic parts and assemblies. Coordinate international shipping, customs, and delivery timelines. Business Exposure Report and present directly to executives. Learn how global trade and logistics work in practice, and see firsthand how engineering decisions ripple into cost, schedule, and scalability. Who We're Looking For We're less interested in a checklist of credentials and more interested in how you think .
The strongest candidates will demonstrate:
Systematic, logical, methodological thinking — you break problems down and work through them with structure Independent thought and critical thinking — you question assumptions, dig for root causes, and form your own opinions The willingness to speak up — you share ideas confidently, including in front of senior leaders, and push back when something doesn't make sense This is a fast-paced startup environment. Ownership, curiosity, and adaptability matter more than any single line on a resume. Qualifications Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field Fluent in Mandarin Chinese — both spoken and written — for supplier communication Hands-on experience with SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings)
Preferred:
~1 year of hands-on experience from industry, startups, internships, or engineering clubs/teams Exposure to motor systems and/or vacuum systems Genuine interest in both engineering and supply chain/operations Comfort with 3D printing, shop tools, and lab builds Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, weldments) Logistics On-site in Fremont, CA, with extended hours during major delivery milestones Minimum 3 months ; longer commitments strongly preferred Strong performers have a clear path to full-time conversion Why Anyware An A+
