Geotechnical Field Engineer (Field and Lab) Pattison Engineering - 4.2 Tucson, AZ Job Details Full-time $20 - $40 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Google Docs Basic math Driver's License Bachelor's degree Driving Organizational skills Asphalt density testing ACI Certification Full Job Description Job Summary Pattison Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Geotechnical Field Engineer / Drill Technician to support drilling operations, subsurface investigations, and geotechnical field evaluations. This hybrid role focuses on drill rig operation, soil and rock sampling, down‑hole testing, and field data collection essential for geotechnical analysis and project design. The ideal candidate will thrive in outdoor environments, work effectively on active construction and mining sites, and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, grow, and obtain additional certifications. Some projects may require work in mining environments that necessitate MSHA certification . Responsibilities Operate and assist with drill rig setup, drilling operations, and borehole advancement. Collect soil and rock samples, including core samples, following proper geotechnical sampling procedures. Perform down‑hole testing such as SPT , moisture evaluations, and other field geotechnical assessments. Conduct geotechnical field inspections, including soil logging, site characterization, and subsurface evaluations. Accurately collect, record, and organize field data, drilling logs, and sample documentation. Communicate drilling progress, subsurface conditions, and field findings to the Project Manager and field services team. Properly label and log all samples with job numbers, depths, locations, and dates. Travel between drilling locations, mine sites, and construction sites as scheduled. Pick up samples from job sites and deliver them to the lab as needed. Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs throughout the day. Job Requirements Degree in Civil Engineering, Geoscience, or Geology (all are acceptable and encouraged). Current ACI certification (ATTI or drilling‑related certifications preferred but not required). Some experience in drilling, geotechnical fieldwork, or construction‑related field operations, with a strong willingness to learn. Willingness to obtain additional certifications such as
